Making a difference...One Starfish at a time
Our family started fostering back in 2005. We have been blessed to love on many babies. There has been many twists and turns throughout our journey and in December of 2010 we were called for placement of a newborn baby boy. His biological mother worked a case plan for 18 months and after 23 months she surrendered her rights and we adopted 'Sprout' in December of 2012. Our faith has been tried and tested and we are still certain that God is faithful!

Today I went for a drive up to the D*S*S office to bring some items I found that belonged to the boys. I wasn't sure what to expect as you could imagine the feelings of guilt that were going through my head. The caseworker met me in the lobby {I called him when I was on my way} and he was with the home finder. I was a bit nervous because I thought maybe something was wrong with the boys. I handed the caseworker the items and the home finder asked if she could talk to me in private. The things that ran through my head in that moment are a blur. But she asked if we'd considered fostering girls. She had 5 & 6 year sisters she needed a placement for. I had to decline because the dynamics of my bio family would change in HUGE way. She said something about wanting them with us because we were an established, well-rounded family and she thought they'd thrive. {At least that's what I got out of the conversation} ") I told her only if it would be a short term placement and she said that it wouldn't. So, of course, I prayed for these little girls ALL morning. I prayed that God would place them where HE wanted them as it seems that they might be adoptable and they obviously need stability. I prayed that he would give them HIS peace in this time of transition and uncertainty. I was sure to let the home finder know that we are still open for 2 placements but we would definitely prefer them to be boys {and preferably babies} :) So, we ARE still on the list and waiting...

awww precious! Of course you are still on the list. The DSS needs GREAT families just as she told you. We are always told that when they get kids that need to be back on track they think of us first b.c of our scheduled life and structure of our family... They know we can do "the job" of loving on these kids the way parents are supposed to. And they know you JUST LIKE that! It is the image of Christ standing LOUD AND CLEAR!
Even though this wasn't a good option for your family at least you know how they feel about your family. Praise God for that affirmation.
I was wondering how old and what sexes your bio children are if you don't mind sharing.
I cannot believe how many girls they seem to have available for you to foster. Isn't that just strange? And here, all we take is girls (I have two boys, our youngest, and don't want 3 or 4!). Go figure.

i need to update my blog....but Id love to keep reading yours.... i like seeing what others are going through... in foster care...
