Making a difference...One Starfish at a time
Our family started fostering back in 2005. We have been blessed to love on many babies. There has been many twists and turns throughout our journey and in December of 2010 we were called for placement of a newborn baby boy. His biological mother worked a case plan for 18 months and after 23 months she surrendered her rights and we adopted 'Sprout' in December of 2012. Our faith has been tried and tested and we are still certain that God is faithful!

Earlier in the week the caseworker called to ask if I was willing to change my schedule so I could supervise this weeks visit. I choked my way around some words and eventually said that I had no desire to be supervising visits every week. My bio children are all in school and that is the ONLY time in my week that I wouldn't have to pay a sitter so I could run errands (or get a pedicure) :) He said that he'd be really grateful if I was willing to do supervise the visit and I finally broke down and said that "yes. I'd be willing". (suck*er) He told me he'd call back to let me know if the changed visit day and time would work for Bio's. Within 15 minutes I was told that the visit was cancelled this week due to bio's not feeling well. (This was a full 3 days BEFORE scheduled visit!) Un*freakin*believeable!!! I am starting to feel like I am being taken advantage of. I am wondering WHY I haven't received a call since we got Daisy. I am a "stay at home" mom and my children are in school all day. What more could they ask for? Am I harassing them too much??? Has the caseworker even passed my info on to the supervisor??? Am I reading too much in to this? It just doesn't seem fair. I know of at LEAST 4 boys that have come into care since December. 4!!! I don't know what to think anymore. I am a bit discouraged and angry. It's also almost a year since we lost our sweet Felix. I guess I just thought we wouldn't have to wait this long... Sorry for the down post. I think I'm having a bad day :P

sorry you're feeling down. I think this is interesting, I haven't had a chance to "wait" for a placement yet but our foster baby leaves Sunday. I'm interested to see how long it takes for them to place another.
Sad about the visit. :(
Taken advantage of? You? By the foster care system? Never!
I'm so sorry - they can be such users. Just know that you're making a difference in Daisy's little life. I appreciate you, friend.
