Making a difference...One Starfish at a time
Our family started fostering back in 2005. We have been blessed to love on many babies. There has been many twists and turns throughout our journey and in December of 2010 we were called for placement of a newborn baby boy. His biological mother worked a case plan for 18 months and after 23 months she surrendered her rights and we adopted 'Sprout' in December of 2012. Our faith has been tried and tested and we are still certain that God is faithful!

So we are adding 'Sassy' and 'Sweet' to our family...at least for the weekend. I was called late last night (after a very LONG day) and was taken by surprise when the CPS worker said girls. I was told that they were 'in care' for 4 hours before they could locate a home willing to take them... Sounds crazy to me but if you remember...we have requested only boys. The CPS worker sounded desperate and she said worse case is 'only till Monday' when D*S*S opens again. (Yes, we've ALL heard that before!!!) I scrambled for a few minutes getting blankets and beds ready but then I realized I had no girls clothes. I made a few phone calls and some amazing friends dropped off a few items to get us through the next few days. The girls came with diapers and some clothes, neatly folded in a bag. (That says ALOT about where they've come!) The workers brought them to the house around 10 and as soon as they walked in the door I recognized them. I have 'met' them before (not from care) and was thrilled. I was told they were 2 and 3 but they are acually 1 and 2. They were clean (aside from smelling like smoke) and even had their toes painted. :) I know their mama loves them. I have seen her with them (previously) and look forward to hearing more about their future. I spoke to a friend who is familiar with the family and she seems to think they'll go to a relative this week. We'll see. We went through that with the boys...SO many family members but none approved to take them. I think they WILL be going home to their mom. But I haven't spoken to anyone at D*S*S yet to find out anyhting official. So, at least till Monday...they're here. They are as sweet as can be. Sassy and Sweet are BOTH very well spoken for their age and hysterical. They are obviously VERY bonded and you can see how much they love each other. They love to cuddle and smile often. Getting them to bed last night was easy...keeping them asleep was a little harder. I did not sleep AT ALL but I know God's grace is carrying me through. Every hour I was up consoling one or the other. I will update more soon. They are doing well and having a blast...so am I. :) If you know THIS blog...you know where you can find more details... :)
